We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What data we collect and why

We only collect personal data that you actively submit through one of the forms on this site, in order to respond to you:

  • Contact form (Contact page): name, email address, phone number, and your message.
  • Store inquiries (Store page): your email address, and optionally a message and which knife you're asking about.
  • Workshop booking form (Workshops page): name, email address, phone number, your message, and the workshop date/session you selected.

We use this data solely to reply to your inquiry, discuss a custom order, or arrange a workshop booking. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries directed at us, and, where a booking or order follows, taking steps prior to entering into a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

The workshop availability calendar shown on the Workshops page only reads publicly available scheduling information — it does not collect or submit any personal data about you.

Like virtually any website, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information for every visitor (IP address, browser type, timestamps, pages requested) as part of running the site securely. We do not use this data for tracking or profiling.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not currently use any analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. The cookie banner you may see stores a single technical preference in your browser (whether you dismissed the banner) using local storage, not a cookie — this stays on your device and is never sent to us or shared with anyone. If we add analytics or another tracking tool in the future, this policy and the banner will be updated to reflect it and to ask for your consent before anything loads.

Two pages embed content directly from third parties, which may set their own cookies or collect data when the page loads:

  • The Contact page embeds a Google Maps map showing our workshop location.
  • The Store page embeds a YouTube video.
  • The About page includes a YouTube video that only loads if you click to play it.

These embeds are provided by Google LLC / YouTube. We do not control what they collect; please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details.

Who we share your data with

We use a small number of service providers (processors) to run this site and handle form submissions:

  • Resend — delivers form submissions to us by email.
  • Google (Gmail) — the inbox where form submissions arrive.
  • Netlify — hosts this website and its server infrastructure.

These providers process data on our behalf and may be located outside the European Economic Area; where that is the case, they rely on their own safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for that transfer. We do not sell your personal data or share it with anyone for marketing purposes.

How long we keep your data

We do not maintain a database of form submissions — each one only exists as an email in our inbox. We do not currently have a fixed deletion schedule for that inbox, so messages may be retained until we no longer need them or until you ask us to delete them. Technical server logs are retained for as long as our hosting provider, Netlify, keeps them as part of its standard operation.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Ask us what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it (access)
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data (rectification)
  • Ask us to delete your data (erasure)
  • Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing
  • Ask for your data in a portable format

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including serving this site exclusively over HTTPS and standard security headers on all traffic.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new form, feature, or service to the site. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
